Why major in agricultural science?

Discover educational solutions to the world's social, environmental, economic and resource challenges. You'll be prepared for a career in agricultural education in grades 9-12 and as FFA advisers, and enjoy opportunities to educate the public in informal settings. Coursework runs the gamut from plant, soil and animal sciences to agricultural mechanics and teaching-learning process principles. 

The program concludes with a 14-week student teaching internship at a cooperating center in Arizona.

A degree in Agricultural Technology Management & Education prepares you for careers in agricultural management, innovation and education. It also can serve as a springboard for graduate school. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median annual pay for careers related to agricultural managers was $83,770 (2023).

Learn the principles of education and transferrable teaching skills with courses that include youth leadership development, secondary school teaching and curriculum development. You'll be prepared to teach in the high school classroom and meet all of the certification requirements for the state of Arizona as well as requirements for many other states.

Graduate with the confidence and skills need to teach postsecondary students. With the Teaching Emphasis, you'll complete a 14-week student teaching experience during the spring semester of your senior year. The experience serves as a cumulative assessment designed to be a formal evaluation of your individual readiness to teach agricultural education at the secondary level.
