Learn more about our Agricultural Technology Management & Education and Agricultural Systems Management degrees, then read the steps below to apply for admission as a new student.
Current U of A students interested in changing majors, minors or certificates should complete the change program form.
First-time undergraduate students
A completed application includes any required self-reported grades and unofficial or official transcripts, depending on your status; payment of an application fee; and proof of English proficiency, if required.
University requirements for incoming freshmen, younger than 22 years of age, are:
- English (4 units/years)
- Math (4 units/years)
- Laboratory sciences (3 units/years)
- Social sciences (2 units/years)
- Second language (2 units/years)
- Either fine arts or career and technical education (1 unit/year)
- You must have an unweighted overall GPA of 2.0 (A=4.0) in each subject area and may not have more than two deficiencies. You may not have deficiencies in both math and laboratory science or in the same subject area.
You may earn admission through the Assured Admission process if you’re an Arizona resident, attend a regionally accredited high school, rank in the top 25 percent of your graduating class and have no course work deficiencies, or earn a GPA of 3.0 or higher in your core coursework.
Arizona applicants who do not meet the Assured Admission criteria and all applicants not considered Arizona residents are considered for admission through comprehensive review. The comprehensive review examines factors such as: class rank, strength of curriculum, performance in curriculum, grade point average in required core academic courses, and optional materials such as ACT and/or SAT scores, extracurricular activities such as service and work experience, and a short answer, personal narrative or statement included on the University of Arizona application.
Transfer students
You’ll want to get started by exploring our degree programs and looking into how your credits transfer to the University of Arizona. Once you’re ready to apply, your application will include official high school and college transcripts and GED scores, depending on your status; payment of an application fee (fee waivers are available based on financial need); and proof of English proficiency, if required. The general requirements for transfer students depend on your age and college experience to date.
Admission requirements for incoming transfer students, younger than 22 years of age:
- At least 12 transferable credits post high school
- A cumulative recalculated college or university GPA of 2.0
- A cumulative un-weighted high school GPA of 2.5
- Fulfill the course competencies required by the Arizona Board of Regents
Admission requirements for students older than 22:
- At least 12 transferable semester credits post high school
- A cumulative college or university GPA of 2.0
Admission requirements for students who completed the AGEC or an associate degree:
- A minimum recalculated cumulative GPA of 2.5 after completing the Arizona General Education Curriculum, or
- A minimum recalculated cumulative GPA of 2.0 after completing an associate or higher degree from a regionally accredited institute of higher education
International students
If you’re not a U.S. citizen or you do not yet hold U.S. permanent resident status, you’ll apply as an international student. If you've submitted residency application documents to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, but have not yet received formal approval verifying that you have become a permanent resident of the United States, you're considered an international student.
The requirements you’ll need to meet vary depending on your high school and college experience and the academic requirements of your home country at the time your application is submitted. You may also need to submit proof of English proficiency if your primary language is not English, or you attended school in a non-English speaking country.
Returning students
You were enrolled at the University of Arizona as a degree-seeking student and meet any of the following criteria:
- You left in academic eligible status, academic review status, or academic warning status and have missed more than two regular consecutive semesters.
- You withdrew and received “WC” grades and more than two consecutive semesters have passed since your withdrawal.
- You are a graduating student, or have already graduated, and wish to continue as a degree-seeking student.
- You left in academic probation status or ineligible status and have missed at least one semester.
- You dropped all of your classes and no grades appear on your record for that semester.

Eligible or Academic Review Deadlines -- Exited Arizona with a GPA of 2.0 or Higher
- Fall: August 1
- Spring: November 1
- Summer: May 1
- Fall: August 1
Academic Warning, Academic Probation, or Ineligible -- Exited Arizona with a GPA Below 2.0
- Spring: October 2
- Summer: April 1
- Fall: June 3
If you are an undergraduate student who has missed no more than two consecutive terms, you may return without applying for readmission. You must be in good academic standing, having exited the university with a 2.0 minimum GPA. You may still need to reapply if you are an international student, non-degree seeking student, or were on probation or disqualified when you left.
If you believe you qualify, you MUST contact an academic advisor to remove your hold, help you assess your previous coursework and develop a plan to resume your studies. While you can contact your advisor at any time, we recommend doing so before the deadline, if you are not completely sure you are Back2UA eligible.
If you are an undergraduate seeking readmission to the university after an absence of at least three years, you may apply for the Second Start Readmission Program. If you apply for the program, your application and prior academic record will be reviewed by the college you wish to be readmitted into. If you have already completed the requirements for a bachelor’s degree, you are not eligible.
Once accepted into Second Start, you must complete 12 or more graded units within 12 months with a minimum 2.5 GPA. After completing this requirement, all grades from coursework completed prior to your readmission will not contribute to your GPA; courses in which a C or better was earned may count toward degree requirements. You should speak with an academic advisor before applying to confirm if this is the best option for you.
