Why major in agricultural science?

The B.S. in Agricultural Technology Management and Education: Leadership and Communication emphasis introduces you to the intersection of science, technical agriculture and the principles of entrepreneurial leadership. You'll build transferrable skills in clear communication, effective management, business savvy, problem-solving and teamwork, thanks to the department's more than 130 years of agriculture and life sciences education.

With this emphasis, you'll graduate prepared to lead the next wave of agriculture and natural resource innovations, becoming a community change agent, ambassador and advocate for the agriculture industry at the local, state, national and international levels.

A degree in Agricultural Technology Management & Education prepares you for careers in agricultural management, innovation and education. It also can serve as a springboard for graduate school. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median annual pay for careers related to agricultural managers was $83,770 (2023).

You'll graduate prepared to start your career in agriculture after completing an internship or field experience during the last half of your degree. Your internship will allow you to apply coursework knowledge to real world agricultural leadership and communication challenges while making connections with industry professionals.
